Story A Day challenge for writers: May 2010
The goal of Julie Duffy's Story A Day challenge is write a story every day in May. Before you freak out, keep in mind that the stories can be of any length. There is also leeway built-in. "You get to decide what “every day” means. If you need to take Sundays off, go for it. You make your own rules, but you are encouraged to set them up early, and stick to them!"
I'm signing up. I'm going to participate in Paula Yoo's National Picture Book Writing week, so I figure writing picture books can count for the first week, then I'll write other types of stories the rest of the month. For me, I'm mainly aiming for story ideas -- a very rough story outline (including a beginning, middle and end) every day. Some days this might only be a few sentences but if I'm feeling super-inspired, I figure I can write a more detailed story outline.
After May, I'll pick out the story ideas that appeal most to me and expand the outlines.
What about the rest of you?

Hmmm ~ this sounds really interesting!
Sounds like something I need to do. Scared, but what the heck.
I am TOTALLY doing this! Maybe I'll post them on the ole blog as I go.....
I've got some story ideas laying around, unused and half-forgotten. Might be time to drag them back out into the light of day.
Cool idea. I always love exercises which force you to get ideas down on paper - sometimes that's the only way to evaluate their worth.
Hi Debbie,
Thanks for the mention.
I'm shooting for the same kind of approach as you. I keep getting the "finish what you start" advice from experienced writers so I'm hoping this will give me the push.
If we write for 31 days straight it can't all be dross, right?
Actually, I am tempted. For the last couple of months, I've been telling my sons various "chapters" of stories featuring them, every night. Right now, it's Nick and Matthew, The Zoo Keepers and two months ago, they were dollsize kids living in a doll house in the Smith's toy store ;-) Hmm....
I've signed up!
I'm going for a flash fiction every weekday. That should be doable! (Especially if it's very, very short flash!)
I'm very, very tempted. I think I'll allow myself flash and/or Twitter fiction though ...
Thanks for sharing, I signed up.
Finals are at the beginning of the month so its just want I need to get out of school mode and into writing.
What a wonderful idea, I'll spread the word and even mabye get involved! ;)
