Transport Canada bans books from flights?
Apparently Transport Canada is banning books and periodicals from their flights unless passengers buy them after going through security.
Eek. Makes me even happier about being able to read e-books on my iPhone! Hope this ban doesn't last long.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the Kindle being released into Canada...
In all seriousness though, this really really upsets me.
Give a government beaurocrat a little authority and his stupidity really shines.
How ridiculous! Next thing you know, they'll be banning the clothes off our backs.
Okay, they've relented.

That is one of the most insane things I've ever heard...
The power of the written word should never be underestimated.
I feel sorry for the poor passengers that fell foul of the ban before it was lifted. I'd go insane if I had to fly without a book!
I'm grateful that they've relented.
I'm leaving for the UK on Monday... between the heightened security after the last bomb scare and the potential new bans on this and that, it would be a really long trip home without a book. I would be UNHAPPY. Wow.
For a moment, you got me gaping! Thank god Canada is not as neurotic as its neighbor. (Although it seems it's being contaminated, bit by bit...)
Now they're just calling it a "misunderstanding." I'm glad they didn't get away with it the ban.
